The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches will present former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Noon at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
As Secretary of Homeland Security, Mayorkas led America's response to evolving security threats with strategic foresight and decisive action. He is a preeminent authority on counterterrorism, cyber resilience, border security, and economic stability — critical issues reshaping today's world. Under his leadership, DHS advanced AI-driven initiatives to safeguard critical infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity resilience and protecting the nation's essential systems from emerging threats. He was also pivotal in modernizing border security and implementing policies that balanced enforcement with humanitarian protections while strengthening partnerships to combat illicit trade and trafficking. Mayorkas' tenure was defined by his ability to lead through crisis — whether responding to global disruptions, securing supply chains, or coordinating disaster relief — cementing his reputation as a steady hand in volatile times.
A political refugee born in Havana, Cuba, Mayorkas made history as the first Latino and immigrant to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security. Shaped by his parents’ deep sense of patriotism and an unwavering work ethic, he has always lived by a simple yet profound principle: to improve each day and meet every challenge with greater resolve. This mindset has defined his career, from overseeing AI governance frameworks and strengthening cybersecurity partnerships to ensuring economic resilience in an unpredictable world.
